Westgate Sponsors Food Safety Conference
16 May

Westgate are proud to be sponsoring the The Food Manufacture annual Food Safety Conference for the second year in a row, the 2018 event will be held on Thursday 21st June at Etc.Venues, Maple House, Birmingham.

The Food Safety Conference is a long established event and it is aimed at those within the UK food manufacturing industry that are charged with food safety.

This year’s event will have a focus on future law and threats. Brexit still looms large and with recent regulation overhauls by the Food Standards Agency relating to how they are implemented across the supply chain, the one-day conference promises to “examine the emerging food safety landscape as well as arm delegates with the insight needed to manage huge changes expected over the next few years.”

As always it’s critical to stay up to date with regulations, so if you want to attend you can get your ticket here. If you book before the 14th May 2018 you can also get an exclusive discount!

The conference covers a range of topics, but one that is particularly relevant to us is the topic of “reducing the risk of allergen contamination in the factory.” Barbara Hirst, Consultant for Food Safety and Quality at Reading Scientific Services Ltd will talk through the principles of good allergen risk assessment and the potential pitfalls of sampling and analysis.

It can be very easy for cross contamination to occur if proper risk assessments and measures are not carried out in the supply chain, the entire production process, the environment and with workers.

Westgate have worked extensively within the food sector with brands such as Nestle, Arla Foods, Birds Eye, Kerry and McCain. Our products, Flexicurtain and Flexiscreen, are widely used in the food sector due to the high allergen control that they offer.

Our most popular Flexicurtain solution provides food & beverage manufacturers and processors with a quick and effective way to segregate production lines for essential processes such as washdown. Our Flexiscreen solution is used when a temporary screen is required to carry out construction or installation projects, and offers an over 99% dust tight seal, containing dust and allowing production schedules to continue.
