Dust containment for food and beverage environments

When comparing Flexiscreen to other temporary building screen solutions, including scaffold sheeting, there are a number of reasons why Flexiscreen stands out as being the superior option during building and construction work, especially in food production facilities where hygiene standards are paramount.

The creation of a dust tight seal

The use of scaffold sheeting leaves an opening between eyelets, yet the use of Flexiscreen, which has a structural v-overlap system, results in the creation of a dust tight seal that is over 99% effective. The bespoke manufactured Flexiscreen also comes with specially placed joins, which create tight seals around existing services and penetrations. This is not the case with scaffold sheeting. Scaffold sheeting is also not able to effectively seal to a building’s perimeter, whereas Flexiscreen can do just that.

Hygienic parts, materials and components

To ensure food safety and BRC standards are adhered to, Flexiscreen is manufactured from food grade materials and uses hygienic manufacturing considerations to avoid dirt traps. All additional components used to install the Flexiscreen take in to account the risk of cross contamination, including the use of stainless steel fixings (where available) and plastic rather than wooden battening.

Scaffold sheeting can be inadequate when either scaffold poles are required to support the material, or connecting the individual panels requires the use of plastic cable ties, which could inadvertently find their way into food.

Smart appearance

Many food manufacturers receive visits from current and potential customers to validate quality standards or production progress. In the event that these visits occur during essential construction and development works, it has been confirmed that the overall appearance of a site is important. Flexiscreen supports this by providing a professional installation and finish.

A range of low and high grade silicon coated material options enable Flexiscreen customers to design a screen which meets budget and requirements. On many occasions the way in which scaffold sheeting is installed on site, rather than designed and pre-manufactured offsite, leaves the final installation less than desirable for industry leading food manufacturers, who themselves work to high standards.

Minimum disruption to production

Flexiscreen is specifically designed to ensure that all the design and manufacturing is done prior to materials and installation teams turning up on site. In an industry that works 24/7 365, downtime of any amount directly impacts on profitability. A typical Flexiscreen of 100 – 200 sq. metres can be installed on site in as little as 24 – 48 hours. As the main component is folded fabric panels, getting materials in and out of site is also an easy task.

Floor space

When it comes to taller solutions, stability requirements make it inevitable that a scaffold tower would have to take up a good deal of floor space at the base of the tower. The unique design of Flexiscreen means that it takes no more than just a few millimetres, and can therefore be made use of in very tight spaces.
